‘For over 20 years, our chrysanthemum greenhouse in the Westland region of the Netherlands has focused on quality and reliability. Today, we grow an assortment of four different species of chrysanthemum which are exported all over the world. We strive to be on the forefront of sustainable horticulture, with a modern greenhouse and a keen eye on innovations which can help us achieve our goals. Growing flowers in a greenhouse is an energy consuming activity; the cost of the electricity and natural gas necessary to light and heat our facility adds up to a substantial part of our operational expenses.

Next Renewable Group (NRG) offered us the opportunity to set up a single MFPP installation on-site to locally generate the majority of our energy demand from recycled materials. They presented us a detailed, profitable business case for the installation beforehand, organized the feedstock contracting and were the acting project managers.

This results in two major benefits for our company. We're largely self-sufficient when it comes to lighting and heating our facility, which has resulted in an impressive reduction of our utility bills. On the other hand, we feel the meaningful recycling of otherwise wasted materials with negligible residue is in line with our philosophy and the natural products we grow. Personally, I feel this is a true win-win situation.’
